This Russian Mosin-Nagant 91/30 rifle was captured by the Finnish armed forces, and reissued to the Finnish army under the same model designation.
The Finnish 91/30s were refurbished on an as-needed basis and in a quite expedient manner. This rifle has the desirable hex receiver and a Tula arsenal barrel, plus the typical mix of Russian parts you find in many Finnish 91/30s. Interestingly, it has both the early "41" Finnish proof mark and the later "SA" proof mark.
It also has the "D" stamp on the barrel, showing that the chamber has been slightly modified to accept Finnish issue 7.62x53R ammunition. The chambering is entirely compatible with 7.62x54R, so it will work safely with the more common East European surplus ammunition.
It is also noteworthy that this rifle has not been import refurbished. It has not reblued, the stock has not been sanded and refinished, so it is basically in the same condition as when it was issued to the Finnish troops. A must have for the Mosin-Nagant collectors!
